WELCOME TO SOPAC

Winter_Moose_Ad_2019a.jpg

SOPAC (Save Our People Action Committee) was officially formed in 2009 by survivors of moose vehicle collisions. This group came together to take on and highlight the problem of moose on the highways in Newfoundland and Labrador.

SOPAC is responding to the need to identify and record Collision Hot Spots for Moose in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

It has become evident by the number of Moose Vehicle Collisions that are re-occurring in many of the same locations that there are patterns and the Government should recognize them, and take action to protect the drivers on our highways.

Therefore, SOPAC would like to collect and record these. We will compile a list of the locations to present to Government in the hopes they will take action by using long proven effective methods such as fencing, especially in areas where moose accidents are most prevalent.
